Stuart Pearce’s England Under-21 side has had its next fixture lined up as they begin preparations for their UEFA Euro 2013 campaign in Israel.
The U-21s will play Sweden (hat-tip to The Youth Radar) on home soil on Tuesday 5th February, the night before the senior team take on Brazil at Wembley.
Sweden reached the playoffs in the qualification stage for this summer’s tournament, topping Group 2 ahead of Slovenia, Ukraine, Finland, Lithuania and Malta. But they were twice beaten by Italy in the two-legged playoff, with Ciro Immobile book-ending the tie with its first and final goals. Italy will feature in England’s group in the finals.
February’s match will take place at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium, now known as the Banks’s Stadium, in the shadow of the M6.
