Barcelona and Argentina megastar Lionel Messi has tonight been named as FIFA World Player of the Year for the fourth consecutive year. The Ballon d’Or announcement was made earlier this evening in Zurich and surprised absolutely nobody.

Roy Hodgson’s England are non-movers in sixth place in December’s FIFA World Rankings. Spain, Germany and Argentina remain in first, second and third respectively; Italy and Colombia have each moved up a place into fourth and fifth.
