Aaron Lennon out of World Cup qualifiers; Michael Dawson an injury doubt

Tottenham Hotspur duo Aaron Lennon and Michael Dawson have given England manager Roy Hodgson something to think about ahead of his team’s FIFA World Cup 2014 qualifying double header against San Marino and Montenegro over the next ten days or so.

England squad named for World Cup qualifiers: Rio Ferdinand and Ben Foster return

England play San Marino and Montenegro away from home this month as their quest to qualify for FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil continues. Roy Hodgson named his squad for those two matches this afternoon and, unless you follow Every Football Journalist on Twitter, it isn’t without its surprises.

Premier League Recap: goals for Wayne Rooney, Stewart Downing and Aaron Lennon

With Manchesters United and City both winning and keeping up the 12-point gap at the top, the really interesting battle in the Premier League at the moment is the one at the bottom. Aston Villa, Reading and Queens Park Rangers remain in the bottom three but Wigan Athletic in particular are in danger of dropping back in next weekend.

Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson and Tottenham Hotspur’s Tom Huddlestone called up for Sweden friendly

The usual drop-outs for an England friendly have now occurred ahead of the team’s trip to Sweden, where England will help open the Friends Arena in Stockholm on Wednesday. I saw Wayne Rooney get injured at Villa Park with my own eyes, but he has now been joined on the proverbial sidelines by Theo Walcott, Jonjo Shelvey, Aaron Lennon and Kyle Walker.
