Johnny Rotten ended the classic Sex Pistols by asking a now immortal question to the punks of San Francisco: “Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?” Readers of In Bed With Maradona (where I am a content editor) today might come away with the same sentiment thanks to the latest article in IBWM’s Retro section, a missive on England from Paul Parish, dated 1984.
Parish’s article makes for an alarming read, not because of his views or assessment of England’s problems the best part of 30 years ago, but because World Soccer might as well have published it yesterday.
