Roy Hodgson’s first home game as England manager takes place on June 2nd at Wembley, when Belgium come visiting for an intriguing friendly that pits England against a burgeoning and highly-rated young team. England’s recent win over Sweden was notable not only for the breaking of a winless streak and the 2,000th England goal, but also for an attendance of just 48,876 at Wembley. It was the first attendance of under 50,000 for an England game at the new Wembley and the first either side of the rebuild since 1998. It was even possible to pay by cash at one of the turnstiles, a clear signal that the Football Association knew what was coming.
