With UEFA Euro 2012 towering over us like an angry housemaster, one would hope that the England squad would be starting to take shape by now. To a certain extent, I think it probably is – but it’s doing so in the mind of Stuart Pearce at present, and the likelihood of Harry Redknapp being in his place this time next month will obviously have an effect.
Another month down and we still have to assume for the sake of argument that it is England Under-21 (and Team GB Olympics) coach Stuart Pearce that will be leading England at UEFA Euro 2012. Whether Harry Redknapp, Glenn Hoddle or someone else takes his place remains to be seen, meaning that any analysis of England’s squad depth has to take Pearce as its assumed selector.
At the end of a very busy month, it’s time to review the status of the England squad once more.
